El Corazón – the Heart – is based on articles and reports in Mexican and international news, read during the years 2012 to 2015.
This piece is born out of the grief and the necessity to visualize, reflect and show the injustices and crimes that are being done – to humans by humans – in the name of humanity.
I wish I could say the piece is not relevant any more. That it’s obsolete. I cannot.
The stories it tells, about the migrants passing through Mexico on their way to the United States, the femicides, the killings, the missing, the violence, the crime, the injustice, the impunity and the story about the 43 missing students from the teachers college Normal Rural Raúl Isidro Burgos in Ayotzinapa (Guerrero, Mexico, 26 september 2014), remain relevant in Mexico and globally, more than ever.
Ask yourself, how can I contribute so that we all an enjoy a peaceful, healthy life on a peaceful planet?
No one can do everything but everyone can do something. Let your heart speak.
